UK Lip Cosmetics Online Category Scorecard
Online cosmetics sales (+7% YoY) now account for over 10% of total sales in the UK Cosmetics sector. We analysed online Portfolio, Product Content, and Search Performance of more than 70 leading brands at four UK retailers (Asda, Tesco, Boots, and Ocado) to identify which brands are poised to win the digital shelf.
In our analysis we discovered that only two brands accounted for one third of the online shelf in the category, though a surprise challenger brand held it’s own alongside major players for first page search results. For all brands, product names and descriptions were foundational to a winning product content strategy.
