But the Amazon minute is action-packed. From its humble beginnings in the garage of Jeff Bezos to the world’s biggest bookstore, Amazon is now a formidable force in the eCommerce and retail industry. Let’s take a look at how much gets crammed into a minute at Amazon.

In Just One Minute, Amazon Enlists 34 New One-Click Happy Prime Members

Prime was launched in 2005, and for $79 a year, members got free two-day delivery on an unlimited number of items. Amazon then went on to introduce Prime Instant Videos, unlimited movie and TV streaming service similar to Netflix. And the Kindle Owners digital public library that only Prime members got access to. With the constant build out of access and benefits for the Prime member, the One Click revolution is here to stay. Estimates put Amazon Prime members at 54MM households in the US (CIRP LLP).

In Just One Minute,  653 New Items Get Listed for Sale on Amazon

Keeping shoppers happy and making Amazon the go-to destination for everything imaginable is the ultimate goal. The world has gotten trained to spearfish on Amazon. In the US Amazon directly carries just over 12.2+ million products excluding books, media, wine, and services. Add-on marketplace sellers, and that takes the number up 30X to 353.7 million. (source 360pi research May 2016). Now that’s an endless shelf!

Amazon declared 2016 it’s best ever holiday season. “Echo and Echo Dot were the best-selling products across Amazon this year, and we’re thrilled that millions of new customers will be introduced to Alexa as a result. Despite our best efforts and ramped-up production, we still had trouble keeping them in stock. From turning on Christmas lights and playing holiday music to shopping for gifts and asking for help with cookie recipes, Alexa continues to get smarter every day,” said Jeff Wilke, Amazon CEO, worldwide consumer.

Consumers appear to be delighted with Alexa. An estimated $1668 sales via an Echo device in a minute.

Making sure you fulfill and exceed shopper expectations is not easy. But Amazon is primed for that challenge. 39 square feet in new US Fulfilment Centers are added on every minute, adding to their more than 70 fulfillment centers in the US. And these centers support an average of 2483 products getting shipped in a minute. Amazon has built a formidable and flexible infrastructure for the transfer of things, and a logistics platform that can extend its reach dramatically.

How does this all net out? In dollars and cents of course. An estimated $115,338 in product retail sales occurs in a minute in the US. And every minute of views, search’s, clicks and prime users in the US and across the world contributes to making Amazon stronger by the minute.
